The impression of the aesthete

With the consolidation of modernist “Primitivism” at the end of the XIX century, the Works of non-European cultures were seen as sources of an inspiration by the artistic vanguard in search of forms of pure art in sharp contrast with academicism. So began a new look at these works, known then as “primitive”,in favour of their artistic dimension, to which Gauguin, the Fauves (Derain, Matisse and the Vlaminck), Picasso, Braque and the Expressionist gave particular impetus.
