The Neo-Classicism in Rimini

Venus and Adonis

The main representative of neo-classical painting in Rimini is the modest painter Marco Capicuzzi. He was a pleasing decorator and a “history painter”, and had the opportunity of painting a great number of theatres and ceilings both I Romagna and in Marches, in competition with the artists form Faenza. Francesco Alberi was far more famous than Capicuzzi, having had several commissions by both Napeoleonic and Papal Governemnts. He taught in the Clementine Academy in Bologna for a long time, but his presence in Rimini was sporadic and mainly in his youth, just like his son Clemente, a very good portraits, who taught as well in the Academy in Bologna.
