The Renaissance Paintings

La Veronica

The six paintings, exhibited in this room, belong to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Rimini (Rimini Savings Banks Foundation). They bought them on the antique’s market between 1980 and 1993. Their trust proves the activity of some rare Renaissance painters from Rimini and Romagna: Giovan Francesco and Lattanzio from Rimini, respectively of Paduan and Venetian formation, Francesco Zaganelli and Girolamo Marchesi, both from Cotignola. The latter show strong northen influences in their paintings due to the presence of German works, imported in Romagna through Venice. Moreover, in Rimini there was an altar-frontal by Jean Bagaert, two fragments of which are displayed in the following room.
