The Fourteenth-Century Paintings

Polittico con Crocifissione

A very important painting “school” developed in Rimini in the first half of the 14th century. Some of the Masters worked in Romagna, Marches, and Veneto. Very few examples still remain in Rimini of this “school”, which had been influenced by Giotto’s permanence in Rimini in the very first year of the century, and which was diffused thanks to the power of Malatestas. After 1348, the year of the terrible “Black Death”, only painters coming mainly from Emilia and Veneto worked in Rimini and its territory.
